Tell us about life at Valspar.
I love my coworkers, I consider them part of my family and I would definitely call them my friends. We work together, encouraging each other to strive to the best in our region. We challenge each other in our pursuit of superior customer service while we market and sell the best quality products in the market.
What's different about the corporate culture at Valspar compared to other places you have worked?
Valspar is an ever-evolving company with great opportunity for growth, corporately and individually. This company is unique in that it is large, yet intimately small at the same time. I truly believe that Valspar values their employees, seeing us as key to their success. Valspar provides quality products, and I am passionate about our brand.
What do you remember about your interview?
What I remember most about my interview with Valspar is the careful process that took place to ensure that I was right for Valspar and that it would be a right fit for me. I believe this has helped in a low turnover rate in employees.
If you've worked for other companies, how did they compare with Valspar?
By far, I believe that Valspar as a corporation bears no comparison to others companies I've worked for in my past. At some companies you feel like a cog in the wheel, but Valspar promotes and encourages a lateral view in its corporate decisions, and this "closeness" separates us from most other corporations.
What makes your career fulfilling?
It's the difference that I am able to make in people's lives. Whether it is teaching Lowe's employees about our products, helping them to be more confident in their position, developing a strategy with the department manager to ensure our success, or helping a customer pick out the perfect colors for their project, I enjoy the positive difference I can make in each of these interactions.
