Giving Back in Pittsburgh
Employees from our Pittsburgh and Sewickley, Pennsylvania, sites helped an elderly homeowner as part of National Rebuilding Day on April 30.
Thanks to the efforts of Valspar employees and friends, the homeowner has a much nicer looking and safer home. The volunteers spent the day painting, repairing and cleaning the home. Specifically, they installed a new storm door and floor, and applied fresh coats of Valspar paint in two bedrooms, the living room and kitchen.
"It was a great day," said one participant, who works in Sewickley. "We had beautiful weather and a great group of fun people helping Ms. Clark. It is very satisfying to help those who need it, and it is eye opening to see the challenges that other people face. Giving back to the community is one of the most important things you can do. It felt terrific to be a part of this year's Rebuilding Day."
Rebuilding Together is a leading national nonprofit working to preserve homeownership for low-income seniors, military veterans and disabled homeowners. Volunteers paint, move furniture, clean, do yardwork and improve the safety of the homes.
Since Valspar became involved with Rebuilding Together 19 years ago, the company has donated over 10,000 gallons of paint and more than $50,000 in funding. Because of the donations, Valspar Packaging has helped families and home owners enjoy their living spaces and increase the value of their homes.
